With us, every learning opportunity counts!
Continuing education is not something that BJC takes lightly. Several concrete initiatives are aimed at supporting employees in their professional development throughout their career.
Whether it’s an intern, a new colleague or even a partner, here is how we contribute to developing and updating the knowledge of every BJC employee.
Coaching for interns
In addition to offering extensive internships during which students complete their training, BJC provides its interns a coaching service that helps them prepare for the Common Final Examination (CFE).
A training plan for new employees
The moment they arrive, all new employees benefit from a structured training plan. Spread out over a two-week period, the plan allows new employees to familiarize themselves with the firm’s best practices and work methodologies as well as to take ownership of the various tools by practicing with case simulations.
This introduction gives them the opportunity to virtually explore model files and to have a forum where they can ask their unfiltered questions to facilitate taking on real cases later on. It also promotes teamwork and integration.
Training for all employees
To meet the continuing education requirements of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec and to maintain and develop the knowledge and skills of its professionals, BJC develops its own training courses that meet high quality standards and offers practical workshops through its experienced quality control and training team.
Covering both technical skills related to the profession (assurance, accounting and taxation) and professional skills (management skills, IT, etc.), these customized training sessions are offered in hybrid mode, i.e., in person or online. BJC team members thereby benefit from up-to-date knowledge and practice at the cutting edge of innovation.
Internal support resource
During the first years of their career at BJC, assurance services employees have access to advice and support from the training and mentoring manager.
With her knowledge and expertise as a CPA auditor, she is fully dedicated to assisting employees, whether in the form of a review of their first case file, an introduction to a new field or a need for information regarding a technical issue.
The assurance team can also count on the support of the training and mentoring manager who contributes to the development of task-oriented training that meets individual needs.
In parallel, all employees benefit from the support of a mentor.
Mentoring program for employees
Upon arrival, each new employee is matched with a mentor based on to their profile. Mentors are available to answer employees’ questions, facilitate their integration and support their professional development.
Moreover, scheduled bimonthly meetings allow employees to receive feedback on their work, identify their strengths and areas for improvement and express their career advancement interests.
After the first year, this mentoring program continues through informal monthly meetings.
Mentoring program for managers
Managers also benefit from coaching through the partner’s mentoring program.
Monthly meetings are an opportunity to focus on the human being behind the employee. If they so wish, managers are also supported in their career development, for example in the path to partnership.
At BJC, relationships are greater than numbers—and that includes taking care of each other!
